Kukkiwon World Taekwon

Kukkiwon, also known as the World Taekwondo Headquarters, offers a comprehensive syllabus that includes a series of Poomsae patterns. These patterns serve as a fundamental component of taekwondo training. Here are the key points:

  1. Patterns for Color Belts:

    • Color belt practitioners learn a total of eight patterns at Kukkiwon, from Taegeuk 1 to Taegeuk 8.

    • These patterns involve a sequence of defensive and offensive movements.

    • Practicing Poomsae helps develop essential skills such as stances, focus, balance, breath control, and flexibility.

  2. Patterns for Black Belts:

    • Black belt practitioners have an additional nine patterns, from KORYO (1st Dan) to ILYEO (9th Dan)

    • These advanced patterns challenge practitioners with intricate movements and precise techniques.

In summary, Poomsae training at Kukkiwon contributes significantly to a taekwondo practitioner’s overall skill development.
